From January 2, citizens of Ukraine can hand over worn hryvnia banknotes to authorized banks that hold cash reserves of National Bank.
So, the damaged money from individuals and legal entities is accepted by “Oschadbank”, “Privatbank” and “Raiffeisen Bank Aval” in the regions where there are no units of the National Bank, the message financial institutionsays.

We are talking about significantly damaged banknotes, which have lost payment signs as a result of fires, floods, pollution with chemicals. Also worn money are banknotes that have scuffed, partial loss of ink on images, loosening and loss of stiffness by the paper, general or local contamination, stains and inscriptions, stamp impressions, tears or cuts, holes and punctures, torn off and glued edges or corners, and glued.
Authorized banks will not examine such banknotes, but will only pack them with the maximum preservation of integrity and transfer them to National Bank for research. Together with the worn out banknotes, the application and the corresponding certificate of withdrawal or acceptance of banknotes for study are examined.
It is noted that the previously significantly worn out banknotes were taken directly by the regional units of National Bank for research.

Today, National Bank has units in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Kharkiv, Khmelnitsky, Lviv oblasts and Kyiv.
In addition, the study of worn-out bills is carried out by National Bank for free, and based on its results; customers are reimbursed the amount of national currency banknotes recognized as real and payment. Counterfeit money is withdrawn from circulation without reimbursement of their value and transferred to the National Police for investigation.
