For the first time over seven years, the Federal Republic of Germany again headed the United Nations Security Council in rotation, Deutsche Welle informs.

It is reported that Germany and France agreed that the terms of their presidency in the Security Council (following each other) will be “joint chairmanship” for a two-month period.

On April 1, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas flew to New York to replace the head of the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Yves Le Drian, as chairman of the Security Council.

The report notes that since the beginning of this year Germany has been among the ten non-permanent members of the Security Council for a period of two years.

As The Journalist reported, UN Council adopts resolution to combat terrorist financing.
