This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

The diplomatic department refuted the Bild newspaper’s report that the German government does not see difference between ordinary passports of Russian citizens and those that, according to the decree of the Russian president, have been issued on the territories of the occupied Donbas since April 2019.

According to DW, the German Foreign Ministry reports no cases of granting visas to residents with such a passports. At the same time, residents of territories controlled by separatists can apply for a Ukrainian passport and enter Germany without a visa.

“Germany is negotiating at the EU level on a single procedure regarding passports issued in eastern Ukraine. The technical details of such a scheme have yet to be clarified,” the department noted.

Note that on September 24, Bild newspaper said that for almost half a year after Putin’s passport decree, the German Foreign Ministry issued about 100,000 visas to Russian passport holders.

At the same time, it is not possible to answer how many visas were granted to citizens of the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”.

As the German publication notes, while official Tallinn does not recognize Russian passports issued to residents of Donbas, Berlin is waiting for a pan-European solution to the problem.

As The Journalist reported, about 11,000 foreigners have been issued with e-visas to Ukraine in 2018.
