Germany preparing decision on extension of Nord Stream-2 construction through its territorial waters

Nord Stream 2 company, which is building the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine, has applied for an extension of construction of the gas pipeline in winter and spring 2020.

According to DW, on December 16, the Federal Maritime and Hydrography Agency of Germany will consider the application of Nord Stream 2 company.

The German department must accept permission to continue the construction of Nord Stream-2 through Germany territorial waters. This permission is needed because Denmark blocked the construction of the Russian offshore pipeline in its waters.
