Gerus told about gas price for Ukrainians: what it depends on and how it will change

Representative of the President in the Cabinet of Ministers Andriy Gerus explained what factors would determine changes of gas prices in Ukraine.

“The gas price depends on several factors. The first factor is the gas transit, i.e. relationship with Russian Gazprom. You also need to predict what will happen to the gas balance in December, January, February. If Gazprom will try to block gas transit through Ukraine by all means, this may cause a certain deficit and may be resulted in higher gas prices,” the representative of Zelensky in the Cabinet of Ministers said.

To Gerus, “if the issue of the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine will be resolved, everything will be much simpler,” UNIAN reports.

“Now we are buying and pumping gas into our underground gas storage facilities in maximum volumes, while gas is cheap. We must be ready for winter. Accordingly, if we will be prepared as much as possible and, at the same time, we will reduce our consumption, including through energy efficiency, and if we solve a transit issue, I think the situation will be stable. In principle, there should be no worries – neither about the shortage of gas, nor about some kind of super-high gas prices,” Gerus said.
