A giant cave, which is millions of years old, was discovered in the Rhine shale mountains 40 km far from Cologne (Germany).
Researchers descended at 1 km depth of the cave system called Vindloh. During the first descent, the experts moved along the cave corridors for about 2.5 hours and did not find a dead end.
Notable fact: the aisles were having no obstacles. In some places, the corridor width was more than 10 m height and up to 5 m width, the caves have stalactites and corals.
The length of the cave is unknown, but it is definitely more than a kilometer; the largest underground cave in the area extends for almost 6 km, Interfax reports.
Professional cavers claim that the cave is millions of years old.
As The Journalist reported, the longest salt cave in the world was discovered in Israel.
