The Germany Government is categorically against the elections announced by the separatists in the occupied territories of the so-called Republics of the DNR and the LNR in eastern Ukraine. This was stated by the spokesman of the German Federal Government, Steffen Seibert, during a briefing on behalf of the German government, Ukrinform reported.
«We especially appeal to the separatists, supported by Russia, to refuse on holding of the so-called «presidents and parliaments elections», announced on November 11. This is incompatible with the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,» – said Seibert.
He also appealed to the Russia to use her influence on separatists in this matter.
«The Germany Government welcomes the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the extension of the law on special status for parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and the fact that this decision was backed by the majority of deputies,» – the report says.
In the framework of the briefing, Seibert also called on all parties of the conflict to fulfill all obligations stipulated by the Minsk agreements. In particular, this is about compliance with the cease-fire regime and the withdrawal of heavy weapons and troops from the contact line.
