The Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Mikhail Ochendovsky, said that the CEC lacks about 36 million UAH to purchase equipment for ensuring the cyber security of the elections in 2019.
«Without introducing of the equipment and new approaches to protecting our own information resources in 2019, it will be more difficult for CEC to guarantee the same level of cyber security of elections we were able to guarantee in 2014», – Ochendovsky said.
The CEC has already appealed to the government and parliament for these funds last year, – the press service of the Central Election Commission reports.
Okhendovsky stressed that the biggest cyber threat to the Ukrainian elections does not come from Russia or the US, but from the territory of Ukraine.
«We can predict that the situation with cyber threats in the next election will be similar to the usage of the so-called «administrative resource». Some headquarters will try to access both the transmission channels and the information that the election organizers will operate on», – the head of the CEC said.
As «The Journalist» reported, Tymoshenko stated that the CEC, «controlled» by Poroshenko, will not help him to win the presidential election..
