Google to build trans-Atlantic undersea cable

Google announced plans to build an undersea telecommunications cable «Dunant». As the press service of the company reports, the project, designed to boost bandwidth of the growth Google Cloud services and will connect France and the US.

The cable will be padded by 2020, and will increase the capacity of the network, reinforcing one of the busiest Internet routes.

The project was named after the first Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross.

Note that the previous Google’s transatlantic cable was named «Curie», in honor of Marie Curie

As «The Journalist» reported previously, Google fined more than EUR 4 billion by the EU.
