The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allowed for Naftogaz to lower gas prices for the population from April 2019 below the marginal price UAH 8.55 per cubic meter.
According to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, the decision was made on April 3, at a government meeting.
“Earlier, Naftogaz said it could sell gas below UAH 8.55 per cubic meter. I fully support this decision. The cheaper they sell, the better. I think that the time has come to stop [setting – ed.] the price for Naftogaz’s gas. Therefore, today we made a decision that allows Naftogaz to set lower prices than UAH 8.55 per cubic meter, but in no case higher,” said the head of government.
“I oblige NAK Naftogaz to sell gas for the population cheaper than 8.55 UAH per cubic meter from April 1,” Groysman added.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, Ihor Nasalyk, to inform Naftogaz about this decision.
As The Journalist reported, Naftogaz reduces gas price for households from April 1.
