Ukraine and Slovakia are capable of ensuring sustainable gas transit to the European Union, unlike Russia, which will never secure the transit through the third route.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini.
Groysman recalled that it was Slovakia that had become one of the first countries to lend a helping hand to Ukraine.
“We are considering Nord Stream 2 not just as a gas transportation system project but as a new type of Russian hybrid weapon against European countries. Russia will never pay efforts to secure the transit through the third route. Instead, Ukraine and Slovakia can provide it via Ukrainian GTS,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quotes Groysman.
In turn, the head of the Slovak government noted that Slovak companies are interested in participating in the work of the future consortium for managing the Ukrainian gas transportation system and plan to participate in its reconstruction.
“We reject Nord Stream-2 project. This will be a way to bypass Ukraine and Slovakia, and it will exert a negative impact on both countries. Slovak companies want to participate in the reconstruction of GTS,” Pellegrini said.
As The Journalist reported, the European Parliament approved amendments to the gas directive relating to the Nord Stream-2.
