Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov has said that the Ministry of Health will propose to the government to introduce strict quarantine from the beginning of January 2021 for three weeks, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“We are proposing and will propose to the government a planned strict quarantine, starting from the first days of January. We believe that the duration of this quarantine should be three weeks,” said Stepanov, adding that such plans can prepare the Ministry of Health for the seasonal jump in the incidence of influenza and relieve the medical system.

Also, according to him, this week, thanks to the earlier weekend quarantine, the spread of cotonavirus has decreased.

“Almost every day we record less number of cases than we recorded last week. Today, December 4, there are almost 1,000 fewer cases than last Friday (November 27). These epidemiological indicators show that we do not need to introduce total quarantine until the end of December, as our medical system withstands,” Stepanov is convinced.

The minister also clarified that the Ministry of Health will propose to the government to introduce strict quarantine from early January. Thus, the quarantine will coincide with the traditional lull in business and vacations in schools and universities.

“We will propose to introduce strict quarantine from the first day of January for three weeks. We know that on New Year’s holidays in Ukraine from January 1, everything freezes, that children and students have holidays. We will introduce strict quarantine to combine it with natural things in January,” Stepanov summed up.
