At a meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council in Bratislava, Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar put Russia’s violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine on a par with claims to respect the rights of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia.
According to Magyar, the OSCE should take into account with maximum efficiency the problems associated with the “hot zones” in the territory of the organization’s member states.
“There are certain examples of open conflicts, such as violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, violation of the territorial integrity of Georgia, or violation of human rights in many countries, such as systematic intimidation of ethnic minorities in Ukraine,” the deputy minister said.
Thus, the Hungarian diplomat called on the OSCE to rally and deal with these issues with maximum efficiency, European Truth reports.
According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Hungary, in the story on the M1 central Hungarian television channel, the temporarily occupied Crimea was designated the “territory” of the Russian Federation.
“In connection with the appearance on the central Hungarian television channel M1 of a video in which Crimea is designated as the territory of the Russian Federation, the embassy turned to the television channel and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs with a request to correct the inscription,” the diplomatic department noted.
Ukrainian diplomats express the hope that “this case is an unfortunate misunderstanding, and not a deliberate action, given Hungary’s constant and clear support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
