EU insists on the immediate release of Sentsov

The representative of the European Union (EU), Maia Kosjancic, on behalf of EU, urged Kremlin to provide appropriate medical treatment for illegally imprisoned Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, as well as to ensure his immediate release along with other political prisoners serving unfair sentences in prisons of the Russian Federation (RF) and annexed Peninsula Crimea.
This says in a statement by European Union spokesman Maia Kosjancic, published on official website of the European Union.

«European Union expresses solidarity with Oleg Sentsov and, in addition to quick and proper medical care, expects his immediate release along with other Ukrainians illegally detained in the Russian Federation and the Crimea», the statement said.

EU representative is convinced that Russian authorities are violating Sentsov’s rights by refusing to provide him with adequate inpatient medical treatment. Separately, it says about non-compliance with the obligations of the Russian Federation to respect human rights in accordance with international law.

«Ukrainian director was arrested for his work on the Crimean peninsula, against illegal annexation of which by the Russian Federation he categorically stands. EU considers this case a violation of international law and elementary standards of justice», the report says.

As previously reported, The Journalist Sentsov explained why he is stopping hunger strike.
