Kansas became the tenth state of America, which recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, posted The Embassy of Ukraine in the USA on Facebook.
«Another state of the United States recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The proclamation, which proclaims 2018 as the year of remembrance of the victims of this tragedy in Kansas, was signed by the state Governor Jeff Colyer», – the message said.
The decision was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of Ukrainian diplomats in the United States and of American Ukrainians in Kansas.
As «The Journalist» reported, nine U.S. states have already recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide: Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Pennsylvania
