From today, on July 19th, measures to protect European producers come into force – EU duties that limit the flow of steel products from Russia, China and a number of other countries into the EU.
The above countries are forced to redirect their exports from the US to other markets in order to avoid large losses from American duties.
Under the protective measures in the EU fall 23 categories of products, writes DW. As soon as their exports to the EU exceed the average for the last three years, shipments exceeding these quotas will be subject to a duty of 25%.
These measures are practically unaffected by the US, but they can seriously affect exporters such as Brazil, China, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey.
German steel industry welcomed the measures announced by the EU, calling them «a clear signal». At the same time, the European association of automakers Acea warned of the threat of rising steel prices.
As «Journalist» reported the US will pay duties on steel and ketchup at the Canadian border.
