On September 25, the government appointed General of the Third Rank Ihor Klymenko, who had previously served as Deputy Chairman of the National Police of Ukraine, as the new head of the National Police of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“It is an honor for me to become head of the largest law enforcement agency – the National Police of Ukraine. At the same time, I understand the high responsibility and importance of this position,” he said.
Klymenko said he will continue the reforms of the National Police, and will also pay attention to solving the problems concerning Ukraine’s citizens the most.
Ihor Klymenko graduated from the Kharkov Military University. Until 1997, he served in the missile military unit.
He graduated from Odesa State University (in absentia) and received a psychologist qualification. He graduated from the magistracy of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs in 2014 with a degree in Law.
He has been serving in the internal affairs bodies since 1998.
He is a member of a peacekeeping operation in the territory of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Kosovo. In 2014, he was directly involved in anti-terrorist operations in Donbas.
