On September 17, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko held a meeting with representatives of all regional state-owned enterprises working in the field of technical regulation, standardization and metrology, the Economy Ministry reports.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key tasks of the sphere to ensure the support of the national producers in the domestic market and the Ukrainian exporters in the foreign market. Also was discussed an important topic of the process of preparation for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptability of Industrial Products (ACAA).
“In join efforts, we must help our business, our industry to meet European standards, increase competitiveness and enter new European markets, develop our trade and economic relations with the EU. Ukrainian companies should receive an industrial visa-free regime,” Ihor Petrashko said.
According to him, compliance with European standards depends on the renewal and modernization of national laboratories, staff training, provision of high-quality services to manufacturers and consumers of Ukrainian industrial products.
So far, eight new draft international agreements on cooperation in the field of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment have already been signed (Republic of Peru, Republic of Korea, Republic of Kuwait, Republic of Croatia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Poland).
The next most important task is the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptability of Industrial Products (ACAA).
“It is planned that next month the European side will conduct a Preliminary Assessment Mission of the readiness of the Ukrainian quality infrastructure for the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement. We should get positive results of this work,” the minister stressed.
