IMF worsens economic outlook for Ukraine

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in 2020 Ukrainian economy will experience 8.2% drop in the gross domestic product. Earlier, the IMF had forecast a 7.7% decline. This is evidenced by the IMF updated outlook, Hromadske reports.

According to IMF estimates, Ukraine’s GDP in 2020 will amount to UAH 3.9 trillion, and the inflation rate will be 4.5% for the year. According to the updated IMF forecast, the Ukrainian economy will come out of the economic crisis much more slowly than previously expected.

So, for 2021, the IMF predicts 1.1% GDP growth, while previously it counted at 3.6%. The growth of Ukraine’s economy will somewhat accelerate to 3% in 2022.

The IMF estimates the size of Ukraine’s public debt up to USD 93 billion in 2020.
