On May 5, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba officially received from the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Ukraine Mr. Partha Satpathy, a batch of the hydroxychloroquine drug, which the Indian government transferred to Ukraine as humanitarian aid to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Further distribution of a batch of 30,000 tablets among Ukrainian medical institutions and control of their use will be carried out by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

“This is a real gesture of friendship from the Indian people and the government of India, which enhances the partnership of our countries and demonstrates that India and Ukraine are able to jointly confront global challenges,” Kuleba said.

In his turn, Mr. Partha Satpathy called India and Ukraine “two great democracies.” According to him, both countries responded promptly and effectively to the epidemic. He noted that this decision of the Government of India demonstrates a high level of Indian-Ukrainian partnership.

The parties emphasized that the interaction of Ukraine and India in the pharmaceutical industry demonstrates the highest growth dynamics.

In addition, a consignment of typhoid, meningitis, cholera and malaria vaccines destined for the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in the Congo also was delivered in Ukraine as part of Indian humanitarian aid.

Thanks to the efforts of Ukrainian diplomacy, the Government of India has also granted special permission for the commercial purchase of hydroxychloroquine for the needs of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
