The international coalition led by the United States has increased its combat readiness in Iraq. The reason for this is the presence of the Iranian military in the region, which posed threat to the American troops, Reuters reported.
The Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for the US military’s Central Command, noted that the US mission in Iraq is at a high level of readiness.
“(The U.S. mission) is now at a high level of alert as we continue to closely monitor credible and possibly imminent threats to U.S. forces in Iraq,” he said.
At the same time, according to United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the United States is ready for consultations with Tehran.
Recall that last week Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced a decision stop the fulfillment of some parts of Iran’s obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Against the background of this situation, the US President Donald Trump imposed sanctions on metals in Iran.
As The Journalist reported, United States threatened Iran, and Iran threatened the United States.
