Iran will send black boxes from the downed Ukrainian UIA jetliner to Paris, Reuters reports.
During a videoconference, one of Iran’s representatives said that Tehran will send black boxes to the Civil Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Bureau (BEA) in France. Spokeswoman for the Minister of Transport of Canada, Mark Garneau, declined to comment on the situation.
“They showed an openness to transferring the black boxes but we want to see concrete actions on their part to analyze them,” the spokeswoman said.
The Ukrainian UIA aircraft, which was flying from Tehran to Kyiv, was shot down on January 8, 2020 shortly after takeoff. The airline said 167 passengers and 9 crew members were on board.
