Iran announced its intention to begin developing modern nuclear fuel. This was announced by the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, reports Reuters agency.

“We have achieved such progress in nuclear science and industry, that instead of reengineering and using foreign projects, we can develop new fuel ourselves. We can supply fuel to any reactor that is built in Teheran type. The latter still worked on old fuel,” said Salehi.

Note that in 2015, Iran signed an Iranian nuclear deal with world powers, according to which Iran is allowed to produce nuclear fuel in accordance with strict conditions. The transaction significantly limits the level to which a country can enrich uranium. In this case, we are talking about a maximum of 3.67%, well below the 20% that Iran reached before the agreement entered into force.
