The Chinese authorities have officially confirmed that the missing Head of Interpol, Meng Hongwei, has resigned. According to CNN, he is under investigation in the moment.

Recall that Meng Hongwei, who is also serves as the Deputy Minister of Public Security of China, was detained on suspicion of corruption after he arrived to Beijing [from France]. Details of the claims made to him have not been disclosed yet.

Meanwhile, Interpol reported that they received a resignation letter from Meng Hongwei, and accepted it. The Presidential term was to expire in 2020. Vice President Kim Yong Yang, from South Korea, became the Acting Head of the organization. The election of a Meng Hongwei’s successor is scheduled for the end of November.

As The Journalist reported, the missing president of Interpol is under arrest in China.
