Italy strengthens quarantine as new record daily spike of coronavirus cases arise

The Italian government has tightened restrictions to contain the coronavirus epidemic amid daily records of the number of infections, Evropeyska Pravda reports, citing Corriere della Sera.

On October 18, 11,705 new cases of coronavirus and 69 deaths were registered in the country.

Mayors of cities are recommended to close popular central squares and streets from 9 pm. Entertainment establishments, as well as lotteries and casinos, will also have to close at 9pm. The conference rooms are temporarily prohibited.

According to the new rules, companies with no more than 6 people can be accommodated at the table in restaurants and bars. Places that do not have seating places will have to close at 6 pm.

High school is being transferred to distance learning, but graduation classes will take turns studying both at school and remotely. Students of other age groups will continue to study in the classroom, and universities can independently decide about fully distance learning or rotation of teaching in classes, depending on the profile characteristics.

Gyms are given one week to adapt to more stringent quarantine requirements. If they cannot fulfill them, then they will be temporarily closed.

The practice of team sports is also limited: it will be allowed to train on special grounds, but alone.

The requirement for face masks in public places are still in force.
