The deputies of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council at a meeting of the extraordinary session appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky and Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov to cancel the decision to put Ivano-Frankivsk in red lockdown zone, Galka.if.ua informs.

Local authorities believe that the government’s decision creates tension among local residents and violates their constitutional rights.

“Studying the data on the spread of coronavirus and zoning criteria, we want to note that the hospital bed occupancy rate far from objective. After all, hospitals in Ivano-Frankivsk accept people from across the region, and even from other regions. We [the deputies] ask to cancel the decision of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies on bringing Ivano-Frankivsk to the “red zone” in the shortest possible time,” the statement reads.

Hundreds of people gathered under the building of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administration this morning to protest against putting the city into the “red zone” quarantine. Residents are unpleased with the government’s decision.

Stepanov: Number of coronavirus hospitalization in Ukraine quadruple.
