Investigative bodies of the Russian Federation presented to Ukrainian citizen Ihor Kiyashko an accusation of smuggling and espionage attemps. This was reported to the agency Interfax-Ukraine by the lawyer of the accused Yevhen Gubin.
«According to the investigation, I. Kiyashko came to the Nizhny Novgorod region to purchase the working blades, which are part of the RD-33 type aircraft engine for MiG-29 military aircraft. Before that, he signed with a local resident who promised to transfer to him the 42 above-mentioned blades for a fee of $ 46.2 thousand», Kiyashko said.
Ukrainian was detained by officers of the FSB on April 10th in one of Nizhny Novgorod hotels after receiving the goods and transferring the remuneration.
According to E. Gubin, the investigation assessed the actions of I. Kiyashko as an attempt to smuggle blades on the territory of Ukraine. He was charged under part 1 of Art. 30 p. 1 Art. 226. 1 (preparation for the illegal movement of equipment that can be used to create other military equipment).
«In addition, investigators suspected my client of espionage. In their opinion, I. Kiyashko was trying to acquire copies of technical documentation for a multifunctional radar station, which is part of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system», the human rights activist added.
Kiyashko’s Lawyer said that at present the Ukrainian is staying in the Nizhny Novgorod pre-trial detention center. Our fellow countryman completely denies our guilt.
