FC Liverpool said that thousand fans of their can not fly to the Champions League Final due to the cancellation of three flights to Boryspil.
Liverpool believes that the problem arose as a result of an unresolved dispute between a travel company and the Borispol airport regarding the size of the aircraft.
«With deep sympathy, we had to cancel three flights to Kiev. Because of the large number of flights to Kiev, the airport "Borispol" was unable to to reserve a time for plane landing», – the statement said.
The travel agency World Choice Sports underlined that «they exhausted all the opportunities to get time for landing aircraft», reported by «112 Ukraine».
«We got landing slots from Liverpool and Manchester airports and we applied them in the right order and terms to Kiev. Once again we confirm that this is a Kiev’s problem», – noted the agency.
First Deputy Director General of the Boryspil International Airport Dykhne Eugene said, that at the initial stage of the preparation of the operational plan for the reception of aircraft for the Champions League Final at the airport, the infrastructural limitations were ascertained for the reception and parking of wide-bodied aircraft (class E). Their number was limited up to 8 for Liverpool fans and the same number for Real.
«Nevertheless, we did not impose any restrictions on the number of Class C aircraft (Boeing 373-800, Airbus 320), so the charter operators could bring fans to airport without problems», – Dykhne said. He also added: «Two days ago we received requests for slots for three more wide-bodied aircraft with Liverpool fans, will arrival on May 26. In our deep conviction, we have no right to confirm the slots, not having the possibility of timely and qualitatively serve the aircraft to avoid of creating a transport collapse due to overlays in the schedules of departure (the return flight)».
The football club assure that they continue to solve this problem.
