Deputies of the Kharkiv City Council backed the implementation of the so-called ‘Steinmeier formula’, the press service of the Kharkiv City Council reported.
The Kharkiv City Council approved an appeal to the President Volodymyr Zelensky, people’s deputies and deputies of local councils of all levels.
According to the adopted document, the deputies expressed their support for Zelensky in his search for peace settlement of the conflict in Donbas.
“We consider the ‘Steinmeier formula’ to be the only way to end the war. The withdrawal of troops is not a retreat, but another step towards an even greater ceasefire regime, and, consequently, ending deaths. The disbandment of all illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied territories will bring peace to our brothers, the same Ukrainians, who live in parts of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. Regaining control over the Ukrainian border will help to protect country from people who are striving for further confrontation in the East, and will facilitate the holding of local elections, not at gunpoint, but under the OSCE supervision. Elections to the ORDLO under Ukrainian law will return this territories under Ukrainian control,” the text of the appeal says.
The Kharkiv City Council called on colleagues from local government at all levels to support the president’s efforts on ensuring the peace in Ukraine, and those city and regional councils to withdraw documents that prevent the implementing of ‘Steinmeier formula’.
The deputies also demanding from politicians of all levels to stop the insinuations regarding this document and also refrain from holding the “No Surrender” campaign.
