The termination of the Azov bilateral treaty with Russia will in fact make the Kerch Strait Russian, said the Ukrainian Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons George Tuka.

According to the Deputy Minister, the termination of the agreement on Azov will mean that relations between the countries will be regulated by the international maritime law.

«If we break the agreement that is currently in force, and move to the international plane, Russia will announce that at her point of view it will be absolutely logical to take under control 12-mile and 24-mile zone along the Crimean coast (inland waters – ed.). Thus, the Kerch Strait on both sides will be actually blocked by these Russian zones,» explained Tuka.

At the same time, according to the bilateral agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait, in particular, are half divided. Tuka stressed that the termination of this agreement will actually mean complete control over the strait by the Russian Federation, reports Hromadske.ua news agency.

As The Journalist reported, Russia is building a military infrastructure in Crimea to deploy nuclear weapons.
