Kyiv authorities have allocated 4 million UAH for the inspection of the state of Paton bridge with purpose of its further reconstruction, the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reported .
Due to long-term operation in metal structures and metal crossbeams of the bridge irreversible processes of corrosion damage occur, because of which the object requires major repairs.
To ensure the repair of bridge, the Kyiv mayor Vitali Klichko signed an order «On the redistribution of the city budget expenditures for the Department of transport infrastructure of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council for 2018».
Document provides for the allocation of 4 million USD for the next special complex survey of the design of the Paton Bridge, which will determine the amount of necessary work and develop a project for the future reconstruction. Reconstruction works will be carried out jointly with Paton Institute of Electric Welding, noted in the KSCA.
It is planned that the project will be developed this year. The KSCA recalled that the Paton Bridge was commissioned in 1953. Bridge was reconstructed only once, in 2004, when the tram tracks were dismantled from the bridge. Since that time, ongoing repairs have occurred only on small sections of the bridge.
As reported by Journalist, for operational monitoring of the state of bridges in Ukraine, they will be installed sensors of control.
