North and South Korea began to dismantle 20 posts located on the fortified border between the two countries. This is reported by DW.
North Korea has about 160 border posts along the 250-kilometer border, and South Korea has about 60. All these facilities will be dismantled in accordance with an agreement concluded between two countries in late October.
The border village of Panmunjom, where negotiations were held between two countries of the Korean Peninsula, remains the only place on the border where soldiers of both countries stand in front of each other.
After the weapons withdrawal and guard posts dismantling there will remain 35 unarmed representatives from each side.
