The head of the National Police of Ukraine, Serhii Kniazev, during his report stated that the investigation has “new developments” in the case of the murder of journalist Pavlo Sheremet.
Kniazev noted that this crime has not yet been solved, but the investigation has certain directions that are under investigation, but they are classified and cannot be disclosed publicly.
“Mr. President, at the present time, the National Police has a number of promising areas of its work in solving the murder of Pavlo Sheremet. Given that this information has limited access and is in the active phase, I am ready to report to you personally. Today I received permission from the investigator [resolution to grant permission to disclose information about the pre-trial investigation – ed.] to a certain extent, where I was delegated to disclose preliminary investigation data to the President of Ukraine and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov,” Kniazev stressed.
In his turn, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the people who committed the murder of the journalist Sheremet will be found, the Scheme reports.
Recall that Sheremet died in result of a car explosion in the Kyiv downtown on the morning of July 20, 2016 .
The police qualified the crime according to part 2 of paragraph 5 of Article 151 (murder committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko called the main version of Sheremet’s murder as revenge for his professional activities. Interior Minister Avakov did not rule out that Russia could be involved in the crime.
