The ex-cook of British royal family Darren McGrady has published the book «Eating royally». In it, he revealed her Majesty’s taste preferences, reports The Mirror.
McGrady explained this by saying that during a meal the queen does not want to be like a monkey. Before eating banana, she cuts off the top and bottom of the fruit with a knife, and then gently removes the skin. After that, Her Majesty cuts a banana into pieces – and only after that eats.
Also in his book, the cook wrote that representative of Windsor has a black sheet of products. She does not eat pasta, potatoes and garlic. However, her husband, Prince Philip, on the contrary, loves spicy foods.
«You will never see how garlic is served to the queen, but Prince Philip loves it», said the former chef of the royal family.
Queen Elizabeth II does not like all food containing starch. Onions should be added to the dishes, too, to a minimum. Mollusks are better not to serve in Buckingham Palace, because their use can lead to food poisoning.
The queen also does not like off-season vegetables. She prefers lean foods such as grilled fish or chicken.
The first thing McGrady was asked to do when he came to work for the royal family was to cut the carrots. He thought that the vegetable will be served to Elizabeth II. However, carrots were intended for her horses.
Darren McGrady was the chef of the royal family from 1982 to 1993. After that he worked for Princess Diana, until her tragic death in 1997.
