The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on resolving the situation in Donbas, ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, has said that the first Prime Minister of Ukraine (1990-1992) Vitold Fokin would help to establish communication with both Ukrainians living in temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, and with society in Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Mr. Fokin, like Reznikov, will be the first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation. His main task, which was emphasized by both President Zelensky and the head of the President’s Office Yermak, is interaction and coordination of negotiations between civil society institutions, citizens of Ukraine who live in non-governmental controlled territories and those residents of Donbas who live in the rest of Ukraine, that is, already about 1.5 million of them. Many of them also moved abroad,” Kravchuk said.
According to the head of the Ukrainian TCG delegation, in order to move forward, it is very important to know not only the opinion of the “leaders of these entities” [on the territory of ORDLO – ed.], or political forces, or opinion of the Russian Federation, but also opinion of the people who used to live in Donbas before the war, but were forced to move.
“This is Vitold Fokin’s task. He is a resident of Donbas, he worked in mines since his 16. He was the prime minister of Ukraine, a participant of the Belovezhskaya Agreement. Fokin knows Donbas well, knows people who live there, and has many contacts there. I think that in this case his capabilities and ability for such a calm, compromise, analytical approach will be useful for this matter,” Kravchuk said.
