The most difficult part of all negotiations with Russia is the prisoner swap. As for the Crimean Tatars, the Ukrainian side is not seeking their exchange, but their release. This was announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in an interview with the Turkish TV channel.
“The exchange of prisoners is probably the most difficult and delicate part of all negotiations with Russia because it concerns the fate of the people, their relatives who are waiting for news, so we never disclose any data of prisoners who can be exchanged or deadlines,” the message reads.
He assured that the Ukrainian side is ready to move to the next round of exchange.
Regarding the inclusion of Crimean Tatars in the exchange lists, he pointed out that Kyiv is seeking to release them, not to exchange.
