Kyiv authorities: 244 new coronavirus cases in past day, 909 patients in hospitals

The mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klitschko has reported 244 new coronavirus cases over the past day, two fatalities, the Kyiv City State Administration informs.

“Unfortunately, the situation is far from improving. Over the past day, 244 more coronavirus patients were reported. Two people have died. In total, the coronavirus claimed 242 lives of Kyiv residents. In total, there are 15,276 confirmed coronavirus cases in the capital,” Klitschko said.

Among those who were infected on previous day are 138 women aged 19 to 81 and seven girls aged from five to 17, as well as 95 men aged from 18 to 96 and four boys aged from 2 years to 16. This figure includes 14 health workers. 24 patients were hospitalized in the capital. Others are staying on self-isolation under the supervision of doctors. Some 28 people recovered over the past day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,759.

“The highest number of new cases were recorded in Obolonskyi district (50), in Darnytskyi district (36), and in Solomianskyi district (28),” Klitschko stressed.

In addition, according to the mayor, 909 coronavirus patients hospitalized: 174 of them have serious health condition, and 12 are connected to ventilators.

“I would like to note that the number of patients requiring hospitalization has increased over the past two weeks. Today, 909 coronavirus patients are being treated in Kyiv’s hospitals. Of these, 14 are children. 174 patients are in serious condition, 235 receive oxygen support, 12 connected to ventilators. Another 97 covid suspected patients are in hospitals,” Klitschko said.

He noted that pneumonia does not recede either. Over the past day, 30 patients were hospitalized with such a diagnosis. In general, 460 patients with pneumonia undergo treatment in the capital’s medical institutions.
