Kyiv agreed with a Polish company on the waste batteries disposal, said the deputy head of the KSCA Petro Pantelieev.

According to the official, the capital is in the process of preparing to send about 60 tons of used batteries to Poland, with the carrier currently being defined.

“The city has allocated funds to take out the batteries, which include chemically hazardous substances. Unfortunately, there is not a single processing enterprise in Ukraine. We went to Poland, where they have such an enterprise. And we are now holding a competition for selecting a carrier to export the first batch of batteries from Ukraine to Poland”, as UNIAN quotes Pantelieev.

The KSCA deputy head also emphasized the issue of the radioactive waste disposal within the territory of Kyiv.

“This is the Radikal plant, which houses 200 tons of mercury and mercury-containing soil,” said Pantelieev. He also added that the domestic mercury processing plant remained in the occupied territory.

At the same time, according to Pantelieev, spent fluorescent lamps are recycled in Ukraine.
