At the Metropolitan Water Supply Station “Vynohradar-1” stopped using chlorine for decontamination of water, reported in Kyivvodokanal.

“The next electrolysis plant for the production of hypochlorite was installed at “Vynohradar-1″ water pump station, which produces about 10 thousand cube m of water per day and provides drinking water to the inhabitants of Vynohradar district”, – the report said.

It is noted that liquefied balloon chlorine was used at the artesian pumping stations as a disinfectant reagent, which is dangerous for personnel and others. Therefore Kyivvodokanal, is carrying out modernization of pumping stations, and the old chlorinators are replaced by modern equipment for the production of hypochlorite.

“Hypochlorite for decontamination of water is produced from the usual salt, which by electrolysis method is split into hypochlorite and hydrogen. The system is designed in such a way as to minimize human involvement in hazardous processes with harmful substances, “explains Kyivvodokanal.

The modern cleaning system provides high quality water and safety for station staff. The system for production of hypochlorite at the pumping station “Vynohradar-1” has been operating in test mode for several weeks.

In further plans of Kyivvodokanal – to carry out the modernization of the pump stations “Deputatska”, “Minska”, “Syretska” and “Vynohradar-3”.

As reported by “Journalist”, in Kiev almost 600 houses were left without hot water.
