Lithuanian Foreign Ministry announced that Remigijus Motuzas, country’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, will be withdrawn for consultations, Delfi reports.

“The ambassador withdrawn for consultations amid vulnerability caused by the threats the embassy, its staff and the ambassador received after the verdict in the case of January 13,” said Lithuanian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Rasa Jakilaitienė.

Recall, on April 10, Remigijus Motuzas was questioned as a witness in the case of the illegal visa issue in the Russian Federation. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said that that the status of the ‘special witness’ granted by law enforcement officers to the ambassador makes the official even more vulnerable. Note that This status is provided if a person is interviewed but cannot yet be charged due to the lack of legal grounds.
