German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron will sign a new agreement on cooperation and integration between the countries on January 22, the German government informs.

“The new treaty is aimed at achieving greater convergence between two countries. Germany and France want to face the challenges of the 21st century together,” the German government said.

The report notes that the signing ceremony will be held in Aachen.
The Treaty of Aachen will be based on the Elysian Agreement signed in 1963. The document, drawn up after the Second World War, was designed to deepen cooperation between the two former enemy sides.
As The Journalist reported, the head of the French government announced plans to suppress unsanctioned protests.
