In August, Tesla will update the Autopilot system software, installed on cars. It will make autopilot to become completely autonomous. The current version of the software is considered as semi-autonomous. This was twitted by the chairman of Tesla’s board of directors, Elon Musk.
Mr Musk also stressed that the company is trying to make the autopilot as safe as possible. However, he has not yet disclosed the details of the new software.
Recall that the billionaire complains of excessive attention to the road accidents with Tesla cars, equipped with an autopilot.
According to him, the number of accidents with Autopilot system installed on cars, is much lower than in cases when cars are operated by people.
«It’s super messed up that a Tesla crash resulting in a broken ankle is front page news and the 40,000 people who died in US auto accidents alone in past year get almost no coverage», – Musk stressed.
That issue is better in latest Autopilot software rolling out now & fully fixed in August update as part of our long-awaited Tesla Version 9. To date, Autopilot resources have rightly focused entirely on safety. With V9, we will begin to enable full self-driving features.
