Germany has temporarily suspends the export of weapons to Saudi Arabia until the real circumstances of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the attackers will be clarified. This is reported by the DW news agency referring to the official statement of the country’s Chancellor Angela Merkel.

«First, we condemn this act in the strongest terms. Second, there is an urgent need to clarify what happened — we are far from this having been cleared up and those responsible held to account. Arms exports can’t take place in the current circumstances,» the Chancellor noted.

According to Merkel, the investigation of the case should be continued, combining the efforts of experts at the international level.
Recall that on October 2, Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi came to the consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul and disappeared.
According to the Turkish investigation report, the journalist was killed, and the body was dismembered and secretly taken out of the consulate.
The Saudi Arabia authorities subsequently confirmed the information on the murder of Khashoggi on the territory of the country’s consulate in Turkey. According to the Saudi prosecutor, the cause of the journalist’s murder was a quarrel that growth to fight between Khashoggi and the people he has met in the department.
