According to the Joint Coordination Center for Ceasefire Monitoring (JCCC), the militants planned to shell the mosque in Donetsk in advance, because it happened when lots of people were inside, the press service of Joint Forces Operation reports.
The Ukrainian side of the JCCC informs about the shelling of civilian settlements conducted by the Russian-led armed formations, which threaten civilians’ lives and damaging the civil infrastructure of Donbas.
On June 4, according to the Ukrainian side of the JCCC, the militants did not shell Ukrainian army positions in the direction of the city of Donetsk, so the Ukrainian units did not open fire in response.
“Analyzing the direction of shooting and actual distance from the mosque to the nearest position of Ukraine’s Armed Forces which was (5,5 km), and maximal distance of shooting from 82mm mortar (4 km), including existing dispersion during shooting, it is possible to conclude that it is impossible to hit the dome of the mosque with four mines,” the report said.
Therefore, we can conclude that the Russian occupational administration tried to discredit Ukraine’s Armed Forces before the people of Donbas and its Muslim part.
