Ukraine’s Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak ordered an additional examination of the metal of the «Molot» mortar during the official investigation of an emergency incident at the Rivne polygon.
As reported by the Ministry of Defense, examination metal from which the barrel of the mortar «M-15 Molot» was manufactured will be carried out on the basis of the research laboratory of the National Technical University of Ukraine «Kiev Polytechnic Institute named after Ihor Sikorsky».
Now the samples are transferred to the research laboratory, where they are being investigated.
«Conclusions on the results of the examination will help to establish the objective cause of the mortar explosion», the ministry noted.
As reported by «Journalist», the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on legislative support of law enforcement activities Andriy Kozhemyakin said that the metal for the Molot mortar does not meet the technical specifications.
