One hectare of farmland in Ukraine – if the land market to be opened – will cost more than USD 2,000. In case the farmland to be sell under the limited sale model conditions, the price will be USD 1,500 per ha. The Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky told this in an interview for the “New Time” publication.

“Our calculations show that if we apply the current model, the average price will be USD 2,200 per hectare, and, if based on a limited model (with restrictions), it will be a maximum of USD 1,500,” Vysotsky said.

The Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy recommended the Parliament to support the bill #2178-10 on opening of the market of agrarian land, developed by the same committee as a basis. According to the text of the document, foreigners are prohibited to buy land until 2024, except for companies that already rent land and work in Ukraine. They will be able to buy land from October 1 of next year on equal terms with Ukrainian companies.

Zelensky: Farmland sale moratorium must be lifted before December 1.
