Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine plans to change the state building standard (SBS) regarding the requirements for the size of windows in the construction of buildings, depending on the light-climatic features of the region.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Regional Development Lev Partskhaladze.
«According to the new SBS for lighting, we propose to adjust the calculations of natural lighting in premises. In particular, clarify zoning of territory of Ukraine on light climate, distributing it into four zones with light-climatic features. This will give an opportunity to more correctly calculate necessary minimum area of windows in premises in different regions of Ukraine and, consequently, increase insolation and comfort in premises», wrote Partskhaladze.
As for the zones, in the first it is planned to include Zhytomyr, Khmelnitskiy, Ternopil, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Volyn oblasts. The second zone should include Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, Vinnitsa, Kiev, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. The third zone will include Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkassy, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. The fourth zone includes Odessa, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Zaporozhia and the Crimea.
As the deputy minister added, new state building code should be adopted in the near future, and it will be used to design lighting of premises in residential, civil, industrial buildings and structures, in industrial and agricultural enterprises, as well as to design outdoor lighting of settlements, including streets, roads and parks.
