In early March of this year, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Philip sent a letter to the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko asking to remove sanctions from the Moldovan Metallurgical Plant (MMP), and also to stop anti-dumping investigation against this plant.

Thus, the head of the Moldovan government helped to avoid the Ukrainian sanctions against MMP, which is located in Transnistria, RBC-Ukraine reports.

It is noted that in May 2018, the Ukrainian head of state signed a decree on sanctions against 756 enterprises, among which the MMP was listed. These sanctions included freezing of assets and trade operations restriction.

After Philip’s letter passed all instances in Ukraine, on March 19, 2019, Poroshenko signed a decree with an updated list of legal entities subject to sanctions, in which MMP was replaced by the Novastal prim company located in Chisinau.

As The Journalist reported, the United States imposed sanctions against the Chechen Prime Minister.
