Monet’s picture sold for a record amount

Painting by Claude Monet from his famous series “Haystack” was sold on Tuesday for $ 110.7 million in New York. This was a record for the canvas by the artist. Monet’s previous picture was sold at Christie’s in 2016 for $ 81.4 million.

Recall Monet wrote a series of works of the same name after buying a house in Giverny in the winter of 1890-1891. In total, 25 compositions were written to them. In each work, Monet showed the light and the environment of the same scene in different conditions.
