TEXAS, USA: the Pantax plant began assembling the first serial model of W76-2 low-yield nuclear warhead (5-7 kilotons), DW informs.
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) stated that the launch of production "demonstrates the ability of NNSA to achieve a significant program milestone" in the implementation of the "large-scale national safety initiative", which is carried out as part of the Pentagon’s new nuclear strategy initiated by the Donald Trump administration in 2018.
The report notes that the new, upgraded low-yield nuclear warheads (5-7 kilotons) will be handed over to the US Navy until October 2019.
